Chroma meter CR-400/410 is an excellent tools for color assessment

The Konica Minolta’s Chroma Meter CR-400/CR-410 is a color measuring instrument that are well recognized in the food research and development, universities, instituitions as well as manufacturing industry. It is primarily used for the color assessment of food ingredients or finished products so that the color consistency can be measured within the required specification accurately.

It has been acknowledged as the ‘de facto’ standard when being used and mentioned in many research papers across the globe. Its predecessors, the CR-200 & CR-300 has set the path for the CR-400/CR-410 platform as researchers and manufacturers tend to stick same brand and model for better data compatibility.

Reason #1

Firstly, the colorimeter is built robustly. It has borrowed its design from the CR-300 and improved on it for better handling. The designer of the instrument has considered the ergonomics of a user and included multiple features as rough rigged surface for better grip, large trigger button for measurement and a safety wrist strap so that the instrument does not fall off in case it slipped off the user’s hand.

Reason #2

Secondly, the colorimeter is known for its versatility. It can be either used in the lab or in the field with ease. Since the instrument is built well, it can be easily taken out for field measurements such as production floors and into the farm fields. The CR-400/CR-410 and the DP-400 can be independently powered by batteries which make it a better choice than instrument which is connected to an AC adapter. Not to forget the brightly illuminated LCD display also assist in recording the readings with an ease.

Reason #3

The CR-400 /CR-410 are the right choice of instrument due to industry acceptance. It is common to know that any instrument which has been widely used in the industry will be accepted as standard by other companies or agencies. For the CR-400/CR-410, the government agencies such as MARDI, FRIM and all governments universities which majors in food technology studies use the CR-400/CR-410 as a default instrument for color measurement. Besides food industry, the CR-400/410 is widely used in the plastic industry, automotive, paint manufacturing and in the manufacturing of nutraceuticals.

Reason #4
The other major reason why the CR-400/CR-410 is a choice of many is due to the flexibility in measuring many types of samples such as powder, paste, granules, pellets, liquid, semi-solid and solid materials. Coupled with its many accessories, one can customize the instrument to measure any sample they wish to without major changes on the instrument. Not to forget, wet or dry samples can be measured easily, and this is the main reason in the food industry, this model champions other models when compared in terms of price versus value.

Reason #5

Finally, the CR-400/410 features are expandable when paired with the Spectra Magic NX software. The software is developed as a quality control tool by Konica Minolta Sensing packs with powerful features which assist the end user to assess and analyse color data easier. Besides that, it can also make changes on the instrument settings such as illluminant type and colorimetric difference a breeze. Not to forget, user also can access to measurement indexes such a yellowness index and whiteness using the Spectra Magic NX Pro software. This software also provides unlimited data points storage dependable on the end user computer space availability. Lastly, this software also helps the user to generate reports with the customisable templates depending on the requirement.
