Rhopoint TAMS™ (Total Appearance Measurement Systems)
An Innovative New Technology Models The Human Perception Of Surface Quality
The next generation paint quality instrument that sets new standard in appearance measurement.
Rhopoint TAMS™ is a new way of quantifying appearance quality inspired by a four-year collaboration between Rhopoint, Volkswagen AG and AUDI AG.
The Rhopoint TAMS™ is built with an innovative new technology design models to the human perception of surface appearance quality, providing new parameters that revolutionise the understanding and communication of visual appearance information. Individual new values for contrast, sharpness, waviness and dominant structure size fully describe the visual perception.
Rhopoint Total Appearance Measurement System (TAMS™) is a comprehensive instrument used to measure the appearance of coatings, paints, plastics, and other materials. It is capable of measuring a range of appearance properties, including gloss, haze, DOI (distinctness of image), RIQ (reflected image quality), and RSpec (specular reflectance).
The Rhopoint TAMS™ consists of a measurement unit, which includes a light source, detector, and optical system, and a control unit, which includes a touchscreen interface for setting up and controlling measurements. The instrument is designed to be user-friendly, with automatic calibration and measurement routines that are easy to follow.
To use the Rhopoint TAMS™, a sample is placed on the measurement unit and the desired appearance property is selected on the control unit. The instrument then measures the reflection and scattering of light from the sample and calculates the appearance property based on the measured data. Results can be displayed on the control unit or exported to a computer for further analysis.
The Rhopoint TAMS™ is a powerful tool for measuring the appearance of coatings, paints, plastics, and other materials, providing accurate and reliable measurements of a range of appearance properties. It is used in a variety of industries, including automotive, aerospace, and consumer products, to ensure that products meet the desired appearance standards.
For maximum impact, an automotive paint finish must instantly produce an appealing visual sensation for the customer. This can only be achieved if the overall surface finish displays both high QUALITY and HARMONY.
Rhopoint TAMS™ technology provides opportunities to IMPROVE SURFACE FINISH, establish improved QUALITY CRITERIA and REMOVE SUBJECTIVITY IN VISUAL ASSESSMENT.
