Rhopoint instruments are known for their innovative measurement technology, particularly for characterizing the transmission properties of transparent materials. Their instruments are especially useful in quality control applications for industries that deal with transparent materials such as plastics, films and glass.
There are two main instruments from Rhopoint used for Transmission and Haze Measurement:
- Rhopoint ID Imaging Transmission Appearance Meter
- Novo Haze TX Transmission Haze Meter
Rhopoint ID Imaging Transmission Appearance Meter
The Rhopoint ID is an advanced instrument that measures not just haze but also other important parameters that affect the visual assessment of transparent materials.
These parameters include:
- Haze
- Sharpness
- Anisotropic Sharpness (only available with Rhopoint ID-L version)
- Clarity
- Waviness
- Distance Dependent Haze
The Rhopoint ID’s method for measuring haze is based on evaluating the contrast of black and white areas on a graticule. Measurements made with the Rhopoint ID are comparable with those made on a traditional ASTM D1003 haze meter.
Novo Haze TX Transmission Haze Meter
The Novo Haze TX is a more traditional haze meter that is specifically designed to measure the total transmission and haze of plastic films and other transparent materials according to ASTM D1003 (CIE C), the most important standard used in most quality assurance applications.
Advantages of Rhopoint Instruments
- Rhopoint instruments offer several advantages over traditional haze meters, including:
- More comprehensive characterization of transparent materials
- Measurements that are highly correlated to human perception
- The ability to measure small sample sizes
- Faster and easier to use than traditional haze meters

RHOPOINT ID TRANSMISSION APPEARANCE METER
An improved method for characterising the transmission characteristics of transparent materials that uses optical measurement of transparent materials that correlates to human perception

NOVO HAZE TX TRANSMISSION HAZE METER
Measured optical quality of plastic films and other transparent materials. The measurement of the total transmission and haze according to ASTM D1003 (CIE C) the most important standard used in most QA application.
